About me

My Story

I am an ordained elder in the Global Methodist Church. I earned a Master of Divinity from Asbury Theological Seminary and PhD from the University of Manchester (UK), where my research focused on early Methodist Christology.

I've worn many hats in ministry. I served as the senior pastor of two local churches, have held leadership roles in lay ministry and denominational administration, and have taught graduate and undergraduate students for almost a decade. I've also worked as a manager in the tech industry, where I learned the skills necessary to lead people well. I currently teach graduate and undergraduate courses in Theology, Church History, and Christian Ministry, and serve as resident theologian to the Great Lakes Conference of the Global Methodist Church. I also serve as an elder in my local church and regularly preach and teach at other local churches in Indiana.

I've also experienced burnout twice since I began serving in vocational ministry. When I was at my lowest I began to question my spiritual gifts, my abilities, and even my calling. When I turned to others for help, I quickly found that few were equipped to help me process my grief and understand the nature of my calling from a standpoint of deep theology and my identity in Christ.

Pastors and other ministry leaders need more than leadership coaching or Christian mental health counseling can offer on their own. They need someone who understands the leadership challenges of churches and ministry organizations, as well as the unique pressures and pitfalls of vocational ministry. They need someone who can listen well, offer theological and vocational insight, and provide tools and resources that help lead to spiritual vitality, fulfilling and purposeful ministry, and confidence to lead and shepherd well.

Every great athlete needs a coach behind them. Great pastors and ministry leaders need a pastor, too.

What Can I Do for You?

I offer coaching, leadership development resources, and encouragement to equip you for a lifetime of healthy, productive, and faithful ministry.

I’m a pastor, theologian, and coach. I’ve been in the trenches.

You may be struggling with a leadership decision, learning how to better balance life and ministry work, or questioning your ministry effectiveness or calling. Ministry coaching will help you process the challenges you are facing, so that you can move forward faithfully and confidently.

I’ve worked with pastors, local church and para-church ministry leaders, and students.

Ministry isn’t like any other vocation. It has higher stakes, and often comes with unexpected or unrealistic demands. This leads ministry leaders to sometimes struggle with first principles. First and foremost, you are created in the image of God. Through Christ, you are also a member of his household. Everything else is just icing on the cake. Whatever ministry role or stage of life you are in, ministry coaching will help you serve out of a deep understanding of your identity in Christ and the gifts given to you by the Holy Spirit.

I can help you develop the skills and tools you need for sustained and joyful ministry.

I provide the tools you need to serve for a lifetime, without burning out. I can help you evaluate and define the scope of your ministry work, learn effective delegation and management of staff and volunteers, and find reclaim the time, energy, and desire to enjoy your life outside of your vocation.

I also help seminary students and new pastors learn the practical aspects of ministry they didn’t learn in school.
