I absolutely love the Church! And I love reading and teaching about its history. Even in all of the messiness and mistakes of our past, Christians across the globe and in all times have sought to follow Jesus faithfully as we wait for God’s kingdom to come fully. In fact, it is in some of the messiest moments that God’s mercy and the power of the Holy Spirit are most fully and clearly recognized.
I believe it is vitally important for every Christian to gain a basic understanding of Church history, because it is our story. Every so often I have the opportunity to help other Christians with this endeavor through the seminary classes that I teach and through discipleship groups in the local church.
My own local church offers a number of such opportunities every summer in what we call Brandywine University. This summer I have the opportunity to teach classes on Early Church History and Basic Christian Theology. If you are in Central or East Central Indiana, we would love for you to join us at Brandywine Community Church on Wednesday evenings at 6:30PM for these and other classes. You can find my full speaking itinerary on the About page.
For those who can’t join us in person, here is a video of my section of our first Early Church History class last week.
